Chinese New Year Concert

See how they are enjoying themselves? It's great dancing to the CNY song.
Yan Lin and Jun Keat were part of the Wu Shu performing group and they "wowed" the school with their "gungho" stunts :)

Class Photos

The school celebrated its Chinese New Year today. All came in their colourful clothes so I took the opportunity to take class photos. See the fun shots taken! Like them?

Turning Pebbles into Diamonds (Con't)

Catch Zhu Deng in action during the Chinese New Year Concert. He is hosting the show together with Leona Wu from 4A. I can't wait to witness his eloquence. Remember, he shared during the first pastoral lesson that he aspired to be a show host? It's a great opportunity for him to polish his skills; to turn pebbles into diamonds:) All the way, Zhu Deng!!! 5A is behind you :)

First Library Period

5A had their first library period today. Mdm Hamidah gave them an induction and thereafter the pupils spent some time reading. In the subsequent library periods, activities will be conducted and the pupils will be asked to complete some library-related worksheets.

Published Poems

Today, 5A had their first visit to the Computer laboratory. They were introduced to different types of poems (Haikus, Alliteration, Shape, Acrostic poems and Cinquains) and their features. They had to come up with their own poems and produced them using MS Powerpoint. Catch them at work and admire their finished products.

Pastoral Lesson 140109

5A Artistes
The class did a role-play. Pupils like Anissh, Klifton, Farah, Jun Keat can really act. They were very expressive and we had a good laugh. The play was to get pupils to reflect how the skills they learnt in school could help them when they become adults. Rida shared that he learnt some soccer skills( dribbling/ shooting) and he wanted to be a professional soccer player in future;) Zhu Deng aspired to be a show host and he wanted to apply the oral and presentation skills that he learnt in school.

Decoration of Noticeboard

As only a handful of children were able to stay back on 9 Jan to decorate the noticeboards, I decided to involve the whole class by starting the activity at their last period. Though this is a new class and the pupils barely know one another, I was simply impressed with the enthusiasm of the pupils. All were soo... eager to lend a hand.

Wen Kang and his mother

At about 1.30pm, some mothers came to help. It was a good platform to meet the parents. We had a good time interacting with one another. I would like to thank the mothers of Edmund, Wen Kang and Salifian for taking their time to help doll up the class.

First Day of School

I was very excited to meet my new class, 5A. This class consists of 31 pupils, 21 boys and 10 girls. "Man"power is always available ;) We played an ice-breaking game, getting them to get as many signatures and points as possible. The two winners are Rifdi and Boon Keng. They each received a simple present from me. I hope they like it.

To get them to decorate the class, each was given a puppet to decorate. These will be displayed in class very soon. I will take pictures of them and post them in the blog.
